ACOLYTE Youth who are in confirmation and some younger may give their talents by serving as Acolytes.
BEREAVEMENT When requested by the family, these coordinators will organize a meal at the church following a funeral service.
BLOOD DRIVE We hold a Blood Drive twice each year, in January and July, through the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center.
CEMETERY The St. John Lutheran Cemetery is located on Newberg Road. For information on purchasing a plot, please contact the church office.
COMMUNITY CARE FUND St. John’s outreach fund for those in our community needing financial assistance, both member and non-member. Donations to this fund are distributed to the needy by Council or Pastor Haug as need arises, subject to our guidelines. For an assistance request, further details on current fund accounts, or on opening a new designated account, please contact a Council member or the church office.
GREETER Welcome our members and visitors as they enter the sanctuary for worship. Shake their hand, hand them a bulletin and give them your best smile...and remember their name.
GOSPEL BAND Our gospel band the “Saints and Sinners”, leads worship on the last Sunday of each month. If you are interested in joining or contribution, please contact Pastor Haug.
LENTEN MEALS Each Wednesday during Lent we join together in a meal prior to worship. Meals begin at 6:00 pm. If your group or family would like to host a meal during the Lenten season, please sign up on the sheet in the Narthex.
MEN IN MISSION (MiM) Contact Randall Tipp.
PRAYER CHAIN You may contact the church office at any time to start a prayer chain for yourself or a loved one. We will send out a church-wide email and we will also notify the telephone prayer chain of your needs. See Prayer Chain in this booklet for the Phone Prayer Members.
READER Read the Old Testament and Epistle scriptures from the lectern during Sunday morning worship.
SCHOLARSHIP FUND The Scholarship Committee was formed to distribute funds each semester to our college-bound members. Each college student receives funds contingent on the number of credit hours taken and grades received. We also require students to attend church at least once a month for one year prior to attending college, and help with at least one church activity per year while attending college (i.e. donate flowers, scripture reader, Sunday School assistant, or other church event.)
Donations to the Scholarship Fund in amounts of $100.00 or more may be given “in honor” or “in memory” of someone. Their names will be placed on a Scholarship plaque which will be hung in the Narthex.
THRIVENT FINANCIAL Designate Choice Dollars and get information about Thrivent products available to members.
USHER Make worship a comfortable place to be for everyone in attendance. Collect offerings and usher worshipers during communion and upon exiting, etc.
VISITATION COMMITTEE Visit Shut-Ins on a rotation schedule; each gets one visit per month. They live in their homes, assisted living, retirement homes, etc.
WEDDING COORDINATOR Oversees all weddings that take place at St. John, to ensure all our guidelines are followed.
WELCA - the Ladies of the church comprise WELCA and care for many areas of the church. We will soon have a WELCA page available under the Ministry section of this site. Contact the church office for any immediate questions or concerns.
